A variety of papers presented at the QNDE conference using RITEC high power amplifiers.
Warwick
RI, USA, August 1, 2004- Dr. McKenna attended the QNDE conference held from July 25 through July 30 at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden Colorado. Researchers who utilized RITEC equipment, specifically the SNAP system for nonlinear acoustic measurements, the RAM-5000 for resonant ultrasound spectroscopic measurements and the RPR-4000, presented a variety of talks and posters. Several researchers during the special session on nonlinear acoustics, held on Tuesday morning, presented work using the SNAP system. Prof. H. Ogi, of Osaka University presented a paper on acoustic imaging using a novel transducer and using the high power capabilities of the RAM-10000. His fellow researchers, Dr. R. Tarumi and Mr. N. Nakamura each presented work on the measurements of the elastic constants of thin films using the RAM systems.

RI, USA, August 1, 2004- Mr. Zhiquiang Chi of the Mathematics Department of the University of Kentucky won second place in the student power competition at the 2004 Conference of Quantitative Nondestructive Evaluation, held at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden Colorado. Mr. Chi presented work on “Resonant EMAT Measurements on Aluminum Sheets with Monoclinic Texture” done in conjunction with his advisor Prof. Chi-Shi Man. They utilized the RAM-5000 to drive the EMATs and detect the acoustic resonances in the aluminum sheets and determine the orientation distribution functions.

RITEC RPR-4000 High Power Tone burst Pulser and Receiver and SNAP System to be exhibited in WCNDT conference in Montreal Canada in August.
Warwick RI, USA, July 19, 2004-
Dr. Mark McKenna will be attending the World Congress in Non Destructive Testing, (WCNDT) to be held from August 27 through Sept. 3 at the Palais de Congress in Montreal Canada. We will be exhibiting our RPR-4000 high power toneburst pulser/receiver and the SNAP system for nonlinear measurements in conjunction with our Japanese distributor, Sonix KK. Dr. K. Kawashima of the Nagoya Institute of Technology will be presenting a paper on “Nonlinear C-Scan Acoustic Microscope And Its Application To Characterization Of Diffusion- Bonded Interfaces Of Different Metals” using the SNAP system.
Dr. McKenna attends, gives invited talk at nonlinear acoustics symposium in Nagoya, Japan.
Warwick RI, USA, June 22, 2004- Dr. McKenna attended the first nonlinear acoustics symposium in Nagoya Japan. This symposium was organized by Dr. Kawashima of the Nagoya Institute of Technology. With Mr. Fumio Fujita of our Japanese distributor, Sonix KK, he gave an invited talk on the SNAP system and nonlinear acoustic measurements and applications where the SNAP system was used.
